Development of wine growing and making in Armenia

The main objective of the project is to sustain the development of fruit growing and wine making in the Armenian region of Vayots Dzor through an educational program aimed:

-           To acquire competences in the fruit growing and wine making (short-medium term)

-          To improve the quality of standards of fruit growing and wine making and the region positioning in the International wine market (long term)

The project is divided into 3 steps:

1^st step:

Armenian wine making experts to take part in an educational program/course in the Province of Treviso to be updated on modern techniques of fruit growing and wine making.

The educational action is addressed to growing, production, marketing and development of the wine product, with particular focus on grapes variety, grape harvest (and the period after the harvest) as well as on wine supply chain. It is necessary to arrange training courses where experienced Italian enologists share their experience with their Armenian colleagues.

2^nd step:

Italian experts in Armenia to develop local skills and to gather information on local production by analysing grape variety and giving suggestions on how to improve the product. Both the Armenian experts that have been to Italy and the other Armenian stakeholders will participate to this event.

3th step:

Councillors and project managers of the Province of Treviso and of the Veneto Region in Armenia to meet members of the Armenian government, members of the region wine institutes and carry out some visits to check the results obtained thanks to the training courses. This activity is aimed to promote institutional relations and develop mutual cooperation between partners (with consequent development of the tourist sector)
